— Welcome, I'm Amanda
I am Amanda, a friendly and reliable integrative counsellor supporting you with empathy, understanding and always without judgement to help you better understand your thoughts and feelings.
Working 1:1 with you to explore the concerns you bring. I am an integrative counsellor which means, whilst I am primarily a person-centred counsellor, there are other areas of counselling I am trained in that I may also bring into our sessions. By doing this I can adapt the way I work for your benefit. Person centred counselling means that I help you to become the best version of yourself. If you have any questions about this, please ask me. Coming to counselling gives you the chance to explore your feelings and the emotions and behaviours that may be accompanying these feelings. This can help you to understand more about how you’re feeling and how to cope with it better. We can explore some simple ways to help start to reduce these feelings and help you to slowly start to feel better.
You may choose counselling to improve your self- awareness. Counselling isnt only if you have a problem. Increasing your self-awareness helps you to learn more about who you are and how you are in the world.
An experienced counsellor.
I worked as a counsellor for Rape Crisis where I counselled clients for various different reasons including low self-esteem, anxiety, fear, depression, symptoms of trauma and loneliness. I counselled children at a local secondary school for friendship problems, anxiety, worry about exams, peer pressure, academic concerns and general support. I was also a volunteer Family Action as part of the Perinatal Project where I visited vulnerable families offering support following the birth of a child. These were families who had complex needs and I visited them on a weekly basis where I could chat to the mother. We would talk about how she was feeling, how the baby was doing, any difficulties she was having and if she felt any more support was needed and how we might be able to offer that.
I also have experience in various social care settings
